5 positive traits to look for in a candidate
When you are on the hot seat of the selector, you may feel like doing one of the toughest jobs on earth. Evaluating a person on the basis of certain answers, behaviours and body language is not easy.
And this is why many HR managers and recruiters prefer to consider recommended candidatures only and that too forwarded by recruitment consultants.
Even then, selection is critical, especially at the final round. The checklist for an ideal candidate may differ considerably across sectors but there are certain general positive traits which you can look for in any candidate.

The interview actually starts right when the candidate enters the room. How he walks in, greets the interviewers and makes himself comfortable on his own should be examined very carefully.
His gestures and manners will tell you how self-reliant he is. A person, who is confident about himself from inside, can take on any kind of professional challenge.
Sense of Humour
People with good sense of humour are normally the most adaptive and flexible people. They don’t give up easily and tend to pass through difficult situations keeping their cool.
You need to see whether he can humour you back. That will also be a test of the clarity of his thought-process and how good he is in not overstepping a mark.
This should reflect in his attire, posture and of course communication. His answers should be concise but relevant. Whenever he opens his mouth, he should look 100% confident about what he is going to say. You need to figure out how organised he is in general.
A test of patience is one of the toughest of hurdles for an interviewee and as an interviewer you need to push him as far as you can. This is the most important trait which will tell you whether he would be able to handle pressure, manage a team, multitask and of course endure in the organisation.
That’s an essential trait of a leader. It makes a person a good performer, pro-active and helps him achieve competitive targets.
